American Big Band dates

Finishing up four days with the American Big Band "Home for the Holidays" Christmas Show. What a great group of consumate professionals. You'd expect nothing less out of Nashville TN. They don't call it music city for nothing.

The entire cast is absolutely swinging. Steve Kummer is the bomb, along with Jimmy Boland, Vinnie Ciesielski, and Josh on drums. The singers and dancers are superb. So much fun.........

Great show last night by Mingo Fishtrap

Last night Michele and I went out to hear the band Mingo Fishtrap. What a great band to hear live. They are funky, soulful and just down right fun.

It was a special treat to talk to Dan Bechdolt the tenor plkayer with the band. He is a nice guy and lots of fun to listen to. Dan is playing on a new FJIII Macsax mouthpiece designed by Eric Falcon. He loves it and sounded great. What, you thought we wern't going to talk about that? It's a small world and Dan had run into my friend Doug…

Today I was talking with Jaijai Jackson of The Jazz Network Worldwide and we thought we'd ask our friends here in my music network what tune they think from my "Up & Up" CD should be the next single.

As I move forward I'd really like to hear from you and get your input.

I hope that everyone is well and happy,

Not to mention the stellar audience who attended the sold out performance.

Many thanks to all involved. I will look forward to the chance to do this again.

Impromptu was also in good form and performed several numbers. It was a pleasure to hear 8% for the first time. Long time "Sound Source" friend Craig Mace sang bass with this group. These guys brought down the house. Be sure to support live music often.

From The Desk Of Tim Gordon...

Friends, I am starting a social network, a chance to share and to allow for group participation in the music we all love.  I am hoping to expand my world of music into yours and vice versa.

Collaboration is not only an important part of what we do, it is essential to our musical growth and prosperity.

The most important performances of my life have been those in which real interaction took place.  Moments in which time seemed to be frozen in place, experiences I took…

Industry Veteran Ricky Schultz says...

"The measure of a musician is their body of work.  It's what seperates the men from the boys.

Credentials --- the company you keep. It takes time, opportunity, and in the end-real talent do such a thing. You have to put in many thousands of hours--you can't fake the funk.

What makes a body of work? Twenty years with both The Temptations and The Four Tops. Like a rock.

Having worked with a list of artists so deep, (Google it) from so many genres, that suddenly it hits you--TIM GORDON is one of those players--one of the clutch, go to saxophonists in contemporary music.

Dedicated to his art, Tim is a connoisseur-level musician. His dedication is apparent when you hear his sound. And suddenly it hits you again--you've probably heard him before, maybe even seen him along your musical journey.

SOULFUL, hip-smart, and technically brilliant. What else could you ask of a saxophone player?

Encyclopedic range, comfort with any kind of music, and besides all that? He's a real nice guy.

You're in for a real treat here. Tim Gordon has finally made a record of his own.

Enjoy,
Ricky Schultz
